How to Connect with God

The Problem

Romans 3:10
as it is written, “THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE”

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

These verses point out that no one is without sin. We have all broken God’s law, his rules.

The Predicament

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death . . .

Because we have broken God’s rules we are deserving of death. Another way to describe death is separation. Because of our sin (breaking God’s rules) we are separated from God. Our sin keeps us from connecting with God.

The Payment

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we where yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Because God loves us and made us to have a relationship with him he paid the penalty for our sin. Jesus’ death on the cross was the payment for sin’s penalty which makes it possible for us to be connected with God.

The Promise

Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved

If you accept the payment for sin that Jesus made on the cross you can have your sin forgiven and have a relationship, a connection, with God.

The Prayer

Romans 10:13
Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

If you believe that Jesus died for you, if you believe that Jesus rose again from the dead and if you believe that only through Jesus can you ever have your sin debt paid for and be connected with God then tell him. Prayer is how we talk to God. Pray and tell God what you believe about Jesus. Pray and let him know that you want that relationship with him.

The Proclamation
